This is an image of one wheat filed that is alive and another filed that is dried up and dead. This image is a powerful symbol of my article because it shows that most fields are dying and it’s a waste of money towards the crops itself. In the dying filed you can see how everyone is having trouble with the farming and the community itself. This relates to the article because in the article it shows how the food production is decreasing and sometimes we don't pay attention to the other crops since were in a hurry to feed people we just pick the ones we see first in our eyes.
Statistics & Facts:
- "By 1970, farmers had nearly tripled their production with the same amount of work. "We had a big problem," says Kalkat (deputy director of agriculture) "We closed schools one month early to store the wheat crop n the buildings."
In this quote you can see that even though we can make the food and the production rate can get high at some points sometimes too much can affect other things that matter. They had to shut down schools in Punjab just so they so they can store the extra. Malthus thought that we couldn't get enough food maybe he should have thought about too much food can affect the community. - "Tapped by 1.3 million tube wells, while thousands of hectares of productive land have been lost to salinization and waterlogged soils."
In the quote that is here is also shows another problem that is occurring in a lot of third world countries is how clean the water is and how to get he water. In some places the water carries diseases that can kill you (Cancer, Leukemia, etc). In Punjab the green revolution was over and this was the out come of what's left of it. In the waterlogged it means that to much of the water got soaked up which cost them no crops for seasons. This relates back Malthus because he said that famine and disease will just kill the off making more room for the people who needs the water or any type of supplies. - "Engineering plants that can fix their own nitrogen or are resistant to drought has proven a lot harder than they thought."
To try to make things better they are trying to come up with solutions in the near future hat can change the way we see things in the farming world. With the change n nitrogen or the the resistant of drought can save thousands of lives and can make some countries get back on their feet. If we can get this in the near future then so many people can live.
